I consider my appointment as Chairman of the Social Committee of the Chicago Club of the Philippines a very great honor. The success of the club rests largely upon this Committee. Nothing would please me more than to serve with the other members of this group.
However, business conditions are so critical at the present time that it is just impossible for me to accept any other responsibilities or assignments outside of my company. I know you understand that only a matter of grave personal concern prevents me from accepting this appointment.
