September 22, 2011

Dr. Jose Delgado
School President
Pilar State University

Dear Dr. Delgado:

The Department of English and Applied Linguistics (DEAL) at De La Salle University will hold its 5th International Conference on Globalization and Localization in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (GloCALL) on October 27-29, 2011 at Dela Salle University Manila and Century Park Hotel Manila.  The three day workshop conference aims to share knowledge, research and experience on how to use computer technology to make language learning more effective and pleasant; to explore how the technology can be adapted to better meet the local needs of students and teachers, while at the same time providing global perspectives on computer-assisted language learning (CALL); and to bring the technology within the reach of local teachers who wish to develop their professionalism in CALL.

In this regard, I would like to express my interest to attend the said three-day workshop conference.  I understand that one of the objectives of the university is to provide an opportunity for us language teacher to be upgraded with issues and strategies related to global English.  Attached herewith is the CHED memo, flyer and invitation from DLSU.

Your usual concern and positive response regarding this matter is highly appreciated. Thank you and more power.

Respectfully yours,

Lemuel R. Fontillas
Instructor

Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay
University President
Bataan Peninsula State University

Dear Sir:

Good day!

The institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) Central Luzon Student Chapter (CLSC) held  its 6th Inter Scholastic Quiz Bowl last September 24, 2011 at Louis Resort and Restaurant.  We are glad to inform you that IECEP BPSU has successfully achieved the 1st place in the said quiz show with a total score of 150 points  With this victory, the IECEP BPSU was qualified to participate at the National Quiz show on November 2011 at SMX Convention Center.  We were able to outlast 9 schools including Holy Angel University (HAU) that landed 2nd place with a score of 140 points and Don Honorio Ventura State University that landed at 3rd place with a score of 135 points.

The score was tight at the end of the easy round.  Majority of the schools were able to answer the easy questions.  The easy round ends with HAU at 1st place and BPSU at the 2nd place.  In average round BPSU was able to raise a very slim 5 point lead over HAU.  This lead can be tied by one objective question (worth 5 points) can be erased by one correct problem solving question (worth 15 points).  It is in the difficult round the IECEP BPSU team made a difference by answering a problem solving worth 15 points.  This question increased our margin at 20 points over HAU.  With the participants failing to answer the succeeding question, we were able to maintain our place at the top.  The quiz show ended with a tie breaker question for HAU and DHVSU in order to settle the 2nd and 3rd place.

This victory proves that the Department of ECE of BPSU has the best students in our region.  In behalf of IECEP BPSU team, it is our pleasure to bring honor to our University.

Very truly yours,

Manuel Tiu Olondriz
IECEP President

Sympathy Letter

April 12, 2001

Ms. Irma Santiago
Del Pilar St.
Cabanatuan City

Dear Ms. Santiago:

The extremely sad news of Nita’s death is something that I can still hardly believe.  It is impossible to put into words how I feel, but you know the many things I would say.  Above all, I want you to know that, as one of your oldest friends, I am with you with spirit, and only regret that distance makes it impossible for me to be with you in person.

I shall never forget how you stood by me when I suffered the same loss just one year ago, and how you said and did things for me which I shall be eternally grateful.

My deepest sympathy goes to you in this letter, which is a very weak expression of all that I am thinking.

Sincerely,

Myra Santos

Mr. Fidel Ramos

Diliman, Quezon City

Dear Mr. Ramos:

The one dozen glass lamps I received from you today with invoice No. 8579 had pink lamp shades instead of the blue ones which I specified in my order.  As I promised these lamps to a buyer who wanted the blue ones; naturally, I lost the sale on them.

Would you please send me the blue shade that I ordered with catalog number 76-A and tell me how to dispose of the pink ones.

I shall appreciate your promptness in this regard.

Truly yours,

Dear Mr. dela Rosa:

As a citizen of our town, and one who has its best interests very much at heart, I want to be among the first to congratulate you on your election as President.  The large majority given you by the voters proves that there are a great many like myself who definitely wanted our local government removed from incompetent, dishonest hand and entrust it to a man who is honest, efficient, and loyal to the highest standards.
